President and Chief Executive Officer
With almost 30 years of medical device experience across a range of operational roles, Jeff Elkins will now lead VENITI. He was most recently COO (and CEO prior to their US commercial launch) of Aptus Endosystems, acquired by Medtronic, and prior to that, founding COO and CEO of FlowMedica, acquired by AngioDynamics. Jeff was previously the CTO for World Medical Corp where he lead the development and scale-up of the TALENT aortic endograft system, acquired by Medtronic, then assumed the role of Vice President and Business Unit Manager for the Endovascular Division of Medtronic. He also held various Operations and Product Development management positions at Cordis and Cordis Endovascular Systems (acquired by J&J), as well as Haemonetics Corp. during their IPO. Jeff has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Catherine Matthes, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Matthes has more than 25 years of experience in finance, having spent the last 18 years as the chief financial officer for various medical device and pharmaceutical companies. Her responsibilities with VENITI include managing the fundraising, accounting & finance, risk management and administrative operations for the company and serving in a business development role. Prior to joining VENITI, Ms. Matthes operated her own financial consulting company aiding medical technology and biotech startups such as Galera Therapeutics (a company she founded), CardiaLen, Kereos and ISTO Technologies, in raising and managing millions of dollars in venture capital. Her extensive background in finance began with a position at Coopers and Lybrand (currently PriceWaterhouseCoopers) where she earned her CPA. Ms. Matthes also served as treasurer for several non-profit organizations, and was the 2006 recipient of the St. Louis Most Influential Business Women award.
Vice President of Technology, Clinical Research, and Regulatory Affairs
Mr. Recinella brings 30 years of experience in medical device engineering, product development and project management to VENITI. He served Angiodynamics for eight years as Vice President, Research and Development and as Director of Product Development and as a Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer prior, totaling more than 22 years at the company. He also served as the company’s interim CTO in 2011. Prior to Angiodynamics, Dan was with Boston Scientific and 3M. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from State University of New York.
Chief Commercialization Officer
With 20+ years of experience launching new products and therapeutic solutions, Rodney Marcy leads the development and execution of commercial strategy for VENITI. Most recently, he has held senior commercial leadership positions at Halt Medical and Interlace Medical (acquired by Hologic, Inc.), launching novel technologies for the treatment of uterine fibroids. Prior to those roles, he was Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Global Market Development for Covidien Energy-based Devices, providing leadership in the establishment of LigaSure as the preferred vessel sealing brand in millions of surgical procedures. As Vice President of Sales at venture-funded Sanarus Medical, Inc., Rodney launched two office-based therapies for breast disease. He was Director of Sales for the launch of the Gynecare Division of ETHICON, Inc. and successfully introduced five new women’s health technologies during his tenure. Prior to his role in the Gynecare Division, Mr. Marcy held various management and sales positions for ETHICON, Inc. a Johnson and Johnson Company. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration, Marketing, from Washington State University.
Vice President of Marketing
Carol Barbre joined VENITI as Vice President of Marketing and brings over 25 years of medical device marketing experience with a successful track record of establishing market leadership positions in emerging and highly competitive markets. She has led marketing efforts for products in both the US and OUS markets and brings a vast experience in the vascular field. Carol has successfully launched several new medical technologies developing new market segments and established clinical value and market leadership. Most recently, Carol was Vice President of Marketing at Biotronik and prior to that was with MRI Interventions, where she served as Vice President of Product Management responsible for leading all facets of marketing and product commercialization. Previously, Carol held Director-level positions in marketing at Edwards Lifesciences, Medtronic and Bolton Medical, where she was responsible for establishing and leading strategic marketing plans that drove market leader positions.
